“(…) \u200bThe Gli\u00e8re Quartet, founded in 2017 in Vienna, was born to serve the composer whose name it bears. The first violinist, Austro-Ukrainian Wladislaw Winokurow, founded an ensemble specializing in Russian and Ukrainian music from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. His partners are Austro-Polish violinist Dominika Falger and German violist Martin Edelmann, both members of the Wiener Symphoniker; Hungarian cellist Endre F. Stankowsky, soloist with the Budapest Opera, completes the team, who display a genuine joy of playing together. Dynamism, cohesion and assertive lyricism happily serve these little-known pages, and are on a par in terms of quality with the version by the Pulzus Quartet (Hungaroton, 2006). We can only hope that today’s performers will record Gli\u00e8re’s other two quartets.”<\/p>
